School - But No Fall Weather

It has been stifling hot. Our temperatures have reached in excess of 115 degrees. I am on duty for 1 1/2 hours each day for lunch. Sunglasses and 3 bottles of water are both necessary in this heat. Many days we end up in the gym as it is too hot for the kids.

School has started and already in the 3rd week already. Next week is open house. It is a very interesting year already. This is the 1st year I am a reading interventionist. I am enjoying this new position. There are so many changes in my routine but still getting used to it.

Bug is in the 3rd grade ..... we are just getting older and older. He is already in full swing with tests and all. For lunch Bug has been getting soy milk now and enjoying this new addition to his lunch. He is so excited and feels so normal now. I am so excited for him. He is getting so tall and losing the "baby boy" look.

Soccer season begins soon. This is one of my favorite times of the year. Bug and I also LOVE pumpkin season. We love searching for the BEST pumpkin ever. We don't always decorate it. The hunt is the fun for us. We do have some strange looking watermelons, too. Bug is the silliest boy.

23 Years sounds like a long time

but with my husband it has been 23 long years of so much adventure and happiness. We are very spontaneous and still very much enjoy being with each other. We travel, camp, 2nd hand shop, and follow all of our boys activities.

Carroll loves to DJ and I love to scrapbook. He supports my schooling and I support his training. He is always certifying in something or another with his job as a correctional officer. I have taught for over 12 years. So I earned my Bachelor's and tons of other classes while married. I am now getting my Master's and a Reading Certification in December. I am only 6 hours from a Master's plus 30.

We watch our boys dance, laugh, play ball, watch them in plays, fish, swim, scuba dive, and even sleep. We have followed Chad across the country to his different army stations.

We love to watch movies and eat out. Sometimes we just ride around so we can chat and be alone together. Every afternoon we can we send the boys to walk the dog or ride their bikes just to spend time together. We laugh and giggle so much. When I need to cry I know he will be there. If I am changing classrooms or schools, he always helps me set up.

Ohhh and the back rubs are worth their weight in gold. We cook for each other. Whoever has the less amount of work or the most rested, cooks. But then there is the once every year or so we started to run off for the evening or the weekend. Boy those are such NICE weekends!! Even 4th of July fireworks with Carroll are more magical. So car shopping, weekend getaways, Native American dancing, or even sneaking away for a snowball ...... it really doesn't matter what Carroll or I do, we always seem to find happiness and love.

Oh the allergies he has ....

My little Bug is 8 1/2 years old and is a #4 for peanuts, chocolate, oranges, milk, eggs, a large amount of trees and grasses, feathers, cats, horses, and a ton of ragweed and such. He was tested for 72 things and he is highly allergic to 57 of the items. He was tested at 5 years 3 months old. He stomach wasn't so strong and we knew about his milk allergy at only 6 months. He could never drink cow milk. We had him on powdered milk for a long time. It was easier on his stomach. His food allergies make him have flu and pneumonia type symptoms for a long time. He was on antibiotics for a long time with no end in sight.

He has been on allergy shots since he was tested. He is also allergic (highly sensitive) to the sun and heat. Hot dogs and 100% juice can make him projectile vomit. Red, orange, and yellow drinks make he vomit. We don't go anywhere without an extra set of clothes. He is the only kid on the playground with a hat and a bottle of water.

Recently he calls his stomach his hurting spot. He has been throwing up and looking so weak for a couple of weeks. We saw his allergist today. We are adding clariton to the medicines he is already taking and reducing his zyrtec in 1/2 to only 5 mg. He had also been able to eat food items with very low doses of egg or milk as long as it was at or very near the end of the food item. So today since his headaches and stomach aches can't even be helped with medicines it is down to a STRICT total elimination. He is already on soy milk and we even cook with it. Anything that needs milk we use soy. I just found a site that gave a recipe for egg. It said to use 1 tsp liquid, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp of vinegar per egg needed in a recipe. Has anyone tried this?

I feel so overwhelmed all of a sudden. Did I feel this way 2 1/2 years ago? I don't remember. I guess I was but I am so tired of looking at the purple circles under his eyes.

Bug's finger is doing better. It has been 2 weeks now and the dermabond has fallen off. It is healing well but you can't really see the movement in the tip of his finger. We are encouraging him to move his finger as often as possible.

Tired, yet? Bug said the allergist told him not to eat even one drop of milk or eggs. He is so cute and so understanding. Yet such a chicken! LOL!! He wanted to see what was in the attic so while his dad was in the attic, I let him climb the ladder. He barely got his eyes in the attic and explained how freaky it was. LOL!! Down he came and refused to climb again. Whew! He takes so much energy.

Well now I am up with technology!

Blogging always appealed to me but I never thought I would succumb. And here I am.

I am on a well needed weekend. Summer school is half done now. We start new classes in the morning. We still have three assignments that weren't due yet.

My Bug is doing better. He is 8 1/2 now and enjoying summer camps. He went to Indian Camp, vacation to see Chad in Missouri, and Sports and Activity camp at the university I attend. He has to skip two weeks of camp due to his finger. He severed the tendon of his index finger on his left hand. He was attempting to open a shrink wrapped plastic container of NERDS. He is returning to camp tomorrow.

Chad is doing just great in Missouri. He was supposed to come home for a week or so but hasn't been able to make it down yet. He is still stationed at Fort Leonard Wood.
